Versatility has always been one of the keys to success in the music business, that and the ability to stay in for the long haul. Formed in 1994 by the Mondragon Brothers, Erik and Billy this L.A. Based group has become one of the areas top performance bands working at Disneyland, numerous festivals and even with Warren Hill on one of his celebrated “smooth cruises”. Their repertoire embraces R&B, Old School Funk, Soul, Latin and Dance. They aim to please and keep everybody on their feet.
For the most part, the tunes are the sexy- slow variety and are all original. The brothers share the writing chores with Paul Brown and Bryant Siono who also act as co-producers.
My personal favourites are “On The Floor”, “I Got You” and two of the PB contributions, “Rain” and “Take Me”.
This is the kind of CD that fits nicely into the mix when the mood calls for something a bit less lively, when the lights are dimmed and the evening is made for some of those “smooth moves” on the floor.
