The adjective “Large” seems to have a permanent place in the life of Steve Grove, better known as Euge Groove.
Back in 2004 he released “Livin' Large” and the song quickly became a signature tune or trademark. He continues the theme this year with his latest offering on Shanachie records titled “S7ven Large”, it being his 7th studio release.
Seven isn't the only number in play here. Right off the top he gives us Track 01, an easy going smooth groove that you'll be humming before it's done. There's also Prayer 4, the 4th song on the list, and a soulful one at that, full of warmth and devotion.
Track 6 is called simply Gimme 6 and made think of a warm summer afternoon, shades on, walking in the park or just hangin' on the patio. Bring it on!
To The Nines is....you guessed it...the 9th song and is full of the large, rounded notes that Euge is famous for. John Jubu Smith adds a ton of flavour with his acoustic guitar riff.
The last on the list of numbers is 10 2 Two. I'd put this one in the player after the gusts have gone home, the lights are low and me and my lady are ready for a little slow dancing.
What lies in between the number themed tracks are some very cool originals by Euge and Ross Bolton like The Funky Bunch, Days Of Soul, Welcome to The Bunch, and the very familiar R & B classic Love Won't Let me Wait.
I'm a huge fan of Euge and look forward to enjoying this one throughout the summer.
