Johannes Linstead - Azul

Posted by Kat Cullen on 2017/10/10

Azul - Spanish for blue or sky blue is the major influence on guitarist Johannes Linstead’s tenth album recorded in various studios around the world including the Dominican Republic, Australia and Canada.  He incorporates the lazy hazy days of the Caribbean heat and lifestyle with exotic Spanish and electric guitar.  Reminiscent of Santana, ‘Cha Cha Chu’ thrives off the band’s percussion and horns provided by the excellent Anastasios Bigas on drums, congas and timbales while the artist by the name of Calibre bangs away on the bongos and trumpeter Alexis Baro keeps the tune in high gear.  ‘Lazy Sunday’ brings it down a notch with the focus on Johannes’s award winning Spanish guitar playing - something to put on your iPod while swaying away in your hammock by the beach while watching the surf and palm trees on a breezy tropical day.  Maybe you can do the downward dog posture while the guitarist/yoga instructor (Johannes is a certified yoga instructor) provides the soundtrack to your routine with songs like 'Heaven Meets Earth', 'Moon Child' and ‘Hechicera'. 'Friday Night at Babaluu' is another hot tune that gets the blood going - high energy Latin style with sexy guitar, timbales and horns - what else would you want to spice up your weekend but this an album to enjoy anytime of the week, day or night.  Make sure ‘Azul’ is on your playlist!
