Keiko Matsui - The Road

The Road.  It relates to people in different ways.  It's a way of life.  It's a journey.  Japanese pianist and composer Keiko Matsui's first album in four years reflects these emotions and others on her first release for the Shanachie label.  Her classical roots are full front on Secret Pond, Awakening and the title track with saxophonist Jackiem Joyner.  Legendary drummer Vinnie Colaiuta provides the beat on many of the songs.  Cameroon born vocalist/bassist Richard Bona lays down the groove on the uplifting Nguea Wonja and soothing Touching PeaceBohemian Concerto showcases Keiko's skillful piano playing along with a number of musicians contributing accordion, classical guitar, violin and cello.  Nine ethereal compositions for any road trip.
