Reasons 2 Love

Posted by April Galenzoski on 2018/04/09

It is in the rarest of occurrences that an artist will afford you a special preview of their upcoming work, well before the first single is released, and long before the CD is factory pressed and issued to media and fans. But that was a special privilege afforded to yours truly by awarding winning and Billboard Top 30 and Wave Top 10 charting Euro-jazz sensation Threestyle featuring Magdalena Chovancova who are proudly touting the success of their freshest release, Reasons 2 Love.

This latest work from Robert Fertl (guitar, bass, programming, writing, arrangement, production, backing vocals, percussion), Magdalena Chovancova (saxophone, flute, keyboards, piano, writing, arrangement, backing vocals ), and Gabriela Chovancova (percussion) delivers a highly enchanting diverse sound that infuses jazz, urban, and pop with both contemporary and old school influences at every turn on the eleven song offering. Add venerable smooth musicians such as Paul Brown, Lew Laing, James L. Manning, Latonya Black, and an additional array of highly talented contributing artists, and Reasons 2 Love is cool, sophisticated and refreshingly satisfying to your musical sensibilities.

Fertl’s superb guitar melodies and Chovancova’s sweet saxophone brilliance are beautifully balanced and woven into the foundation of Reasons 2 Love that listeners will instantly and openly embrace. The title song is breezy and carefree that with a west coast vibe, and the chart hit Ready To Go again stirs another vibrant feel-good blend of sound, accentuated by Chovancova’s airy flute melodies. Good News hits every right note with a rich bass groove, retro soul organ, and seemingly endless guitar and sax hooks that add to a stylish presentation.

Threestyle amps up the fun, and funk, on the track Let’s Talk (House Party). Handclapping with sing-a-long ability, the band showcases a hip groove with an improv party vibe as vocalists Chris Troy and Latonya Black encourage listener, and party goer participation. Tim Owens guests on If I Could, a gentle R’n’B slow jam highly reminiscent of the 80s quiet storm sound. Missing You and Desert Moon are each smooth and sensuous with a mixture of elegance and romance in production and arrangement.

Reasons 2 Love further shows why this group with Euro-jazz origins has quickly risen as one of smooth music’s popular sounds across time zones and cultures in such a short amount of time. And this latest release offers eleven more reasons to love their style, sophistication and musical originality.
